I’ll be delivering this portrait to Family House next week.

I’m continually inspired by the courage and amazing attitudes of parents like Anna and Derrek who live with the extreme challenges of their children being treated at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

Love your work & what it supports…you inspire me to try to make art that has a positive impact on the lives of others.

    1. I appreciate your feedback Marlene and glad my work is serving to inspire you to create positive impact in the world. That’s exactly the impact I would like for my work to foster.

  2. This is a great one Seamus. I love how you capture the dad in the act of doing something everyday and recognizable. It makes the painting somehow more personal and accessible than if he were just looking at the camera or admiring his baby girl.

    1. Appreciate your comments on this portrait Sara. One of the things I wanted to convey in this painting is just what you have described. A child in hospital, as Derrek and Josephine were at the time, is a major of the story of Family House. Parents are not just sitting all day in admiration of their children, there are a host of difficulties that require immediate and dedicated attention.

  3. Is it possible to purchase a copy of this amazing painting of Derrek and Josephine? Derrek is my foster son and you have captured him perfectly. I would be pleased to purchase the piece or a copy of it or make a donation of your choice to UCSF for their part in their care.
    Thank you,

  4. Derrek is my Foster Son. His and his family’s time at UCSF was amazing.
I wonder if there is a mechanism where I could make a donation and get a copy of that portrait of he and his Daughter?
It captures Derrek so perfectly. He is a remarkable parent which eloquently disproves the old sentiment that abused and neglected children become abusive and neglectful parents. That family and Josephine continue to thrive.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Many thanks,
    Chris Bock
